What is the cost of the program?

Are the textbooks included in the cost of the course?

Yes, all required texts are included in the course fees.

Once I register, how long will it take to receive my course materials?

Generally, we advise students to allow 4 - 6 weeks for delivery. If you wish to speed this up, you may choose to make your first payment by credit card, money order or certified cheque. As we ship only prepaid materials, anything paid by personal cheque is held for 2 weeks until the funds have cleared.

Do you issue receipts for income tax purposes?

Yes, our fees are tax deductible in Canada. Receipts for income tax purposes will be issued, at year end, for fees paid for subjects completed within the current tax year, plus applicable taxes.

How long do I have to complete my program?

You have a maximum of two years to complete either the RHN program or the RECP program. An additional two months is allowed in which to prepare for and complete the final exam.

Is there anyone I can call if I am having difficulty with the course material?

Yes, our academic advisor is Lisa Adams and she can be reached by phone, fax or e-mail during our regular office hours. In addition, once you register you will be invited to join our on-line discussion group where you may post questions and receive answers from other students, graduates and faculty.

How well are CSNN's programs recognized?

Our RHN program is one of only 6 in Canada which meets RNCP qualifying standards set by the International Organization of Nutritional Consultants (IONC). Thanks to the undying efforts of CSNN director Danielle Perrault, CSNN Registrar, individual branch managers, CSNN students and graduates, our school has grown from a single classroom location in 1995 to a current (as of September, 2008) 11 classrooms in major cities across Canada and the Distance Education program. Anyone considering our school can be confident that CSNN will continue to provide the type of curriculum for which we have become known.

What does PLA mean and am I required to apply for it?

PLA stands for Prior Learning Assessment. You only need to apply for it if you have done some previous education and you are hoping to get exempted from one or more subjects in our course. If you do not want exemptions, you do not need to apply for the PLA.

What are Practicums and can I Attend?

Distance Education students do not attend practicum sessions as do the in class students. These sessions are not hands on situations where students are working with clients. They are held in a classroom setting and provide an opportunity for students to present the findings of their case studies and receive feedback from the instructor, and from the other students. Distance ed students have an instructor to call upon should they require help with these, or any other, assignments. There are a few practicums in which mandatory information is provided that does not involve case studies. That information is provided to distance students in the form of notes.
