CSNN Gerontology provides training to dedicated individuals who will work to assist, protect and support our seniors during their remaining years. To this end, a graduate of the CSNN Eldercare Program agrees to:

  1. Maintain an interest in the wellness of all human beings, regardless of colour, creed or nationality, and in the care of planet Earth.
  2. Respect the rights of our elders as individuals, as to personal tastes, morals and social values.
  3. Be non-judgmental as to the life values and past experience of our elders.
  4. Treat our elders under all circumstances with dignity and respect.
  5. Respect all confidences of which s/he may be cognizant regarding our elders circumstances and that of their families.
  6. Seek the sole benefit of our elders in all matters requiring his/her counsel and guidance.
  7. Counsel and assist our elders to maintain control over the conditions that determine their quality of life and allow freedom of choice.
  8. Promptly and forcefully deal with suspected abuse of elders.
  9. Demonstrate courage and compassion for those affected when facing death and grieving.
  10. Accept full responsibility for the consequences of his/her own actions.
  11. Provide professional services only in those areas in which s/he has competence and training.
  12. Recognize the need to work co-operatively with other disciplines, holistic and allopathic, to best serve our elders, respecting the unique contribution of each discipline.
  13. Respect differences of opinion and exercise tact and diplomacy in interpersonal relations.
  14. Resolve to improve and maintain his/her professional competence in the field of gerontology and holistic health care.
